Seeing Through The Attachment Lens: Attachment-Focused Therapy In Social Work Practice

Discover how an attachment-focused lens can strengthen your clinical practice.

This session introduces social workers to the practical value of using an attachment focused lens in clinical practice. Attachment theory offers a compassionate and non judgmental way to understand client behaviour, build stronger therapeutic relationships, and guide effective treatment. Participants will learn how different attachment categories shape view of self, emotional regulation, expectations of relationships, and view of social reality, and how working through an attachment lens benefits both the clinician and the client.

Facilitator: Devra Igra, MSW, RSW

Devra holds a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, along with advanced training in attachment-focused adult psychotherapy, trauma recovery, and trauma counselling. She has been in private practice for nearly a decade, where she specializes in eating disorders, trauma, and attachment. In addition to her clinical work, Devra is passionate about educating professionals. She regularly offers webinars and workshops on attachment theory, therapeutic interventions grounded in attachment principles, and attachment-oriented adult psychotherapy
