Are you passionate about building connections and sharing real-world insights with other social workers? Join our Communities of Practice (CoPs), peer-led spaces where members working in similar areas can connect, reflect, and grow together. We're looking for volunteer hosts to help lead monthly CoP discussions.

Available CoPs

  • For social workers involved in policy analysis, program evaluation, research, or academic work. Members share strategies for evidence-based and equity-informed change.

    Meetings: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 12:00-1:30 PM

  • For social workers supporting children, youth, and families, including those in school settings. It’s a space to reflect on care that strengthens families and centres the needs of young people.

    Meetings: Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, 5:30-7:00PM

  • For practitioners working with children, youth, or adults with visible or invisible disabilities. It’s a space to talk about accessibility, inclusion, and systems navigation.

    Meetings: Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 9:00-10:30 AM

  • For social workers supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. It centres trauma-informed responses, interagency collaboration, and safety planning.

    Meetings: Every 1st Thursday of the month, 9:00-10:30 AM

  • For Indigenous social workers and allies committed to advancing practice rooted in decolonization, cultural safety, and Indigenous knowledge systems.

  • For those working at the intersections of social work and legal systems, including restorative justice, court navigation, and advocacy for those impacted by incarceration or legal processes.

    Meetings: 1st Wednesday of the month, 9:00-10:30 PM

  • For social workers working across mental health, addictions, harm reduction, and health-care settings such as hospitals, long-term care, primary care, and hospice.

    Meetings: Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 1:00-2:30 PM

  • For racialized social workers and those working alongside racialized peoples, newcomers, immigrant and refugees, to reflect, connect, and engage in dialogue grounded in equity, racial justice, and collective care.

  • For social workers in private practice who are looking to connect with peers, share ideas, resources, and discuss the unique challenges and opportunities of private practice.

    Meetings: Every 3rd Friday of the month, 10:30AM-1200PM

  • For those supporting older adults in any context, this group shares experiences around elder care, dignity in aging, and supporting clients and caregivers through transitions and losses.

    Meetings: Every 3rd Friday of the month, 1:00-2:30 PM

  • *NEW*: For social workers who provide professional supervision to other social workers and are looking to connect, reflect, and exchange ideas.

    Meetings: Every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6-7:30 PM

  • For social workers providing affirming, inclusive, and anti-oppressive care for 2sLGBTQQIA+ clients and communities.
