Membership Renewal
SWAA membership renewal is done through your Member Portal.
Voting members need to:
Live, work or study in Alberta, and
Be registered with ACSW, OR
Have, or are studying Social work education from an accredited Social work program.

To renew, you must log in to your existing Member Portal account.
Do not click the membership options listed on the website under Join SWAA when you are trying to renew. Those options are for new memberships only and will create a new profile with a new Membership ID. New profiles cannot be linked to your existing account.

If you can’t remember your password, click Forgot Password on the Member Portal login page to reset it. Do not create a new account
Username/User Email

Please log in using the same email address already associated with your membership. Renewing with a different/new address will create a new profile which won’t be linked to your old profile.
You can change your email address once you are logged in
Student members must register and renew using their institution’s email address.
If you’re not sure which email is on your account, contact SWAA, and we can help.
RSW Number

If you are an RSW, please add your RSW number when renewing.
Membership Categories
Membership Category Change
Category changes, for example, from Student to Employed, must be updated on your account first.
You will only be able to renew under your new category after the change is made on your profile.
If your category needs to be changed, please contact SWAA before renewing.

Government, For Profit & Private Practice
If the majority of your employment is with government at any level, in healthcare (AHS, Covenant Health, PCN), private practice, or the for-profit sector, your membership fee is $250 per year.

Non-Profit
If the majority of your employment is in the nonprofit sector, your membership fee is $200 per year.

Unemployed
If, at the time of renewing your membership, you are unemployed (including parental leave, stress leave, compassionate care leave, etc.), your membership fee is $125 per year.

Retired
If you are no longer working due to retirement, your membership fee is $125 per year.

Student
If you are currently studying in an accredited social work program, your membership fee is $55 per year.
