Harold Pliszka, MSW, RSW

Executive Director

I’m Harold Pliszka, MSW, RSW (he/him/his), an entrepreneurial-minded structural social worker living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). While I have lived in Treaty 7 territory and Métis Region 3 for nearly thirty years, I grew up in Treaty 1 territory. Many of my professional interests revolve around nonprofit leadership, social justice, integrated health, homelessness, community development, trauma informed practice, mental wellness, diversity, and inclusion. I consider it an honour to serve as SWAA’s first executive director and I look forward to engaging with social workers from all over Alberta.

Kiara Hugh-Yeun, MSW, RSW

Member Engagement Coordinator

I’m Kiara Hugh-Yeun (she/her), MSW, RSW, and I reside in Edmonton. I am honoured to be part of SWAA as the part-time Member Engagement Coordinator, supporting our members and your board of directors. My experience includes providing social work services in healthcare and virtual settings, as well as clinical research and social work education. I act and practice from an anti-oppressive lens, committed to diversity and social justice. I am eager to meet, learn from and support fellow social workers in this role.
