MAID and Bill 18: Exploring the Landscape and Social Work Perspectives

An educational webinar exploring current developments, participant experiences, and emerging questions.

This webinar will first review the current legislative situation related to MAID, both federally and provincially, as well as the sources of information and disinformation; and secondly, the nature of social work practice in relation to MAID, prior to/and after the possible proclamation of provincial Bill 18 which will restrict social work practice related to MAID. The experiences and perspectives of social work participants will be examined through participants’ sharing of their practice situations, questions, and concerns. Opportunity for reflection on how social workers might navigate problematic expectations related to MAID will be provided.

Participants are invited to submit questions in advance and share anonymized scenarios or situations that have raised questions, challenges, or concerns in relation to MAID. Selected examples may be used to inform discussion and reflection during the webinar.
