Social Work Month 2026

March marks Social Work Month, a time each year to recognize the profession and reflect on the values, relationships, and commitments that guide social work practice across Alberta and beyond. This year’s theme, Reimagining Our Future: A Collective Voice for Collective Action, invites us to reflect on how the profession continues to evolve in response to changing systems, community needs, and professional realities. It speaks to the importance of collective responsibility, professional connection, and values-based practice, while recognizing the need for adaptability and responsiveness within a shifting landscape.

As we approach Social Work Month, the theme offers a shared lens through which we can consider where social work has been, where it stands today, and how we move forward together, with intention and purpose.

Alberta Social Work Week:

Social Work Week: March 8-14, 2026

During Social Work Week, we will celebrate our Distinguished Social Worker Award recipients and acknowledge the contributions of social workers across Alberta.

The Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) has several activities happening this month, including contests, giveaways, podcasts, and webinars available to our members:

The theme for this year, “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,” highlights the vital role of social work in bringing people together across communities, cultures, and systems to shape a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow.
