  • Centre for Newcomers 565 36 Street Northeast Calgary, AB, T2A 6K3 Canada (map)

Get ready for a powerful gathering rooted in the Rockies—centred on wellness and the futures of Black 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Alberta.

About this event

What does wellness look like when you're Black and 2SLGBTQI+ in Alberta?

Rooted in the Rockies is a two-day summit exploring that question—and creating space for care, conversation, and connection. It’s part of a national series created by and for Black 2SLGBTQI+ communities, with each gathering shaped by the people who live there.

This listing highlights Day 1 (Saturday, August 16)—a full day dedicated to holistic wellness across housing, healthcare, education, work, and community. Through keynotes, roundtable discussions, a performance, and a panel, we’ll dig into what it means to feel safe, supported, and seen in the places we call home.

Come to speak, listen, reflect, and recharge—on your own terms. This day is about being in community and building toward collective wellbeing.

Free to attend. Lunch and snacks provided. Venue is accessible.
Allies are welcome, but programming centers Black 2SLGBTQI+ lived experience.
